Life is nothing but a lagging list of
Dos and Don’ts and ifs and buts.
Many dance to the tune they prefer
But few succumb and suffer to sustain.
Faith is the foundation of all bonds
Fragile it becomes if frequently fathomed.
Devotion is an extreme state of faith
A total submission and obsession.
Detachment is solicited once totally merged,
But attachment remains the basic human instinct.
Blind worship makes you fatigued
Bounded you remain, no more bounces.
Bonds of any kind are bounty but bounding,
But without these bonds you are a loner.
Being a social animal, how long you will remain?
Behind some mask hiding and bereaving.
Worry a lot but never wish to wither,
Whirled though we are, withstand with vigour.
With someone to live for, we feel like winged,
With no one waiting, we are just vagabonds.
Many times we are forced to say blunt ‘Nos’,
But quiet often it denotes yearning ‘Yeses’.
Dos and don’ts are just protecting fences,
Ifs and buts are tools to curtail our fancies.
Our mind is like a child, frowns at reality,
Fights for its whims and abide till the end.
Weeps to obtain, once gained aims at another.
It never says enough nor fulfilled.
Setting limits is there in our social setup
Settle with it, to armour our mental setup
Setting sun never looks back at the bygone day
Settle with the present to battle with the future.
A pleasant reading for the human mind! The poet mixes up the words in a lucid philosophical style to give satisfaction for the mind.. A lot to think over.. forcing introspection… practical wisdom blooming…all these embedded in the fabric of poetry!
The poet is vocal about the ‘limits set up by the society’ and how justified it in the real life!”Dos and don’s are just protecting fences”, which are bound to be there in a society.. the poet sees these are essential for a humanistic living , holding on to values and not going out of control…
The modern society which is on losing spree of human values needs to imbibe the spirit of self restrictions imposed by the society to have a sustainable life…The words are rhythmic and ringing and it drives into our hearts..
The poet , as has been in her earlier works, gives us a sense of positivism..and energy to realise the prcatical wisdom…
The poet has a devotional attachment with human emotions. As has seen in her earlier poems, the concept of humanity is reflected in this poem too, in abundance. She deliberates mainly on the limits set up in life by society and analyses the pros and cons in a lucid poetical style. She is , of course, a practical person when she says, after analysing various situations forced by such limits, “settle with the present to battle with the future”..She has vividly portrayed the effects of the social limits on family life.At the same time, she is quite vocal about the the basic tenets of life which makes the human bond immortal – like faith, attachment etc. And she is philosophical in saying that”Dos and Donts are just protecting fences” conveying the fact that without such societal limits, the situation may out of control and cause injury to humanity.
A well thought out idea , expressed in poetical lines, crispy and sometimes cryptical–All the best for this blooming poet in the days to come ….
